Vietnam’s Ambassador to Qatar, Nguyen Huy Hiep, and Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari, the First Vice Chairman of Qatar Chamber, recently convened at the chamber’s Lusail headquarters to discuss strengthening the economic and trade partnership between Qatar and Vietnam. The dialogue centered on enhancing collaboration between private sector companies from both nations and identifying promising investment opportunities and sectors for future partnership.
During the meeting, Al Kuwari expressed Qatar Chamber’s commitment to fostering robust partnerships and supporting joint investment projects with Vietnamese businesses. He acknowledged Vietnam’s impressive economic growth and expressed optimism about the potential for increased cooperation.
Ambassador Hiep underscored Vietnam’s eagerness to deepen economic ties with Qatar, highlighting that bilateral trade reached over $860 million in 2024, reflecting a $100 million increase from the previous year. He urged Qatari investors to consider opportunities in Vietnam, particularly in the agriculture, food processing, and halal product sectors. He also noted the significant role Qatar Chamber can play in promoting Vietnamese agricultural and halal products within the Qatari market.
In a bid to further cement these ties, the ambassador extended an invitation to Qatar Chamber and Qatari business leaders to attend the Vietnam International Sourcing Expo 2026, scheduled to take place in Ho Chi Minh City next September. This annual expo is a key global trade event that focuses on sourcing, exports, and supply chain cooperation, attracting international companies and industry experts from diverse sectors, including food and beverages, textiles, furniture, consumer goods, agriculture, and logistics.
