In a concerted effort to deepen bilateral relations, Qatar and Egypt have pledged to enhance cooperation across various sectors, including economic, investment, and labor domains. This commitment was underscored during a pivotal meeting between Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani and Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Dr. Badr Abdelatty. The meeting took place in Cairo as part of the seventh session of the Qatari-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee.
Both nations celebrated the impressive 80 percent growth in their trade relations by 2025, reflecting the robust economic synergy between the two countries. Highlighting their collaborative endeavors, they pointed to the continued expansion of Qatari investments in Egypt. Notably, this includes a groundbreaking sustainable aviation fuel production initiative within the Suez Canal Economic Zone, which marks a significant step in their economic partnership.
In addition to economic ties, the discussion also encompassed labor and consular cooperation, with both sides addressing regional developments aimed at reducing tensions and fostering stability. They emphasized the necessity of maintaining coordination on matters related to Gaza and reiterated their commitment to pursuing diplomatic solutions for regional conflicts.
Further reinforcing their strategic cooperation, Qatar and Egypt acknowledged the critical importance of maintaining maritime security and ensuring freedom of navigation in both the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea. They stressed that safeguarding these maritime routes is essential for protecting international trade and ensuring regional stability, thereby reflecting their shared interests in ensuring peace and security in the region.
